Plumbing apprenticeship training covers the basics of a wide range of plumbing systems and components and their installation. Apprentice plumbers will have to get familiar with skills ranging from residential toilets to advanced water heaters and computerized control systems. The standard amount of work experience that is usually required as an apprentice plumber prior to taking a state journeyman plumber test is approximately 4 to 5 years. The journeyman plumber exam in Ohio is used to determine whether an apprentice plumber possesses all of the requirements and plumbing skills and knowledge that are necessary in order to perform any plumbing related work activities as a licensed journeyman plumber.
