IS YOUR PLUMBING SYSTEM READY FOR THE COLD?

So far in Cincinnati, this winter has been unseasonably warm, but that is going to change quickly. January and February are the two coldest months of the year in Cincinnati and your plumbing needs to be ready for it! When the Cincinnati cold hits there are a few simple tips from BEST Plumbing that can save you thousands of dollars in emergency plumbing repairs.

If you have plumbing on an exterior wall like a kitchen sink, or a bathroom vanity, leave the cabinet doors open. This will allow room temperature air to circulate around water and waste lines.
Leave a faucet on a slow trickle. This will keep the water flowing through the plumbing pipes and reduce the chances of them freezing.
Make sure you have all hoses are disconnected from the outside hose faucets. This is the most common source of frozen and split water lines. Even if it is a frost free hose bibb, disconnect the hose.
Any plumbing pipes that are exposed to cold weather make sure to insulate them. Even in areas you may not think about like in your garage.

If you follow these 4 plumbing tips it may save you a whole lot of time and money this winter. If you have any questions or would like to schedule on of our licensed plumbers to come out please give us a call at (513) 342-0323
