WATER HEATER REGULATIONS

The Department of Energy announced on April 1st that it has changed the WATER HEATER REGULATIONS that apply to residential water heaters.

The intention of the Department of Energy is to reduce carbon monoxide emission and also to reduce energy cost. Sounds like a great thing, a very noble act on behalf of the government. But, the reality of this new law is this… you are going to pay more for a water heater. A lot more! Some industry experts are saying the cost for equipment alone could double or triple. Depending on what type of water heater you have now you may have to do very extensive retrofitting of your system to allow the new heater to work properly.

The new regulations go into effect in 2015. If you have a water heater that is 8 to 10 years old, or older, it may be a good idea to replace it soon. Best Plumbing will keep you up to date on the changes mandated by the federal government and how they affect you. We will be prepared, and our licensed plumbers will be trained to make sure you understand the new water heater regulations and how they impact your home.
